What is an e-ticket, really?: AirTreks

An e-ticket is nothing more than a reservation in an airline's computer system, one that advises them you have a ticketed seat confirmed on a particular flight. The e-ticket receipt often looks similar to an old-style paper ticket but doesn’t need to be presented at the check-in counter on the day of your flight (although we suggest you have it with you, just in case as it serves as proof that your ticket was issued). To check in with an e-ticket you only need to provide a valid passport (for international flights) or government issued ID (domestic flights) so the agent can pull up your record in their system. The check-in agent then provides your boarding pass to take to the gate.Environmentally speaking, IATA estimates that e-tickets save an equivalent of 50,000 trees per year by eliminating the need for the paper used to print them. If you prefer, 24 hours before your flight, you can check-in online using your confirmation or ticket number from your e-ticket receipt on the airline’s official website, and if you choose, print your boarding passes, send scannable copies to your smartphone, or both.Traveling with e-tickets gives the added benefit of not having to carry valuable paper tickets with you on your travels, thereby circumventing the risk of theft, damage or loss. Most airlines still offer a paper ticket option but usually charge steep fees for them, upwards to $50 for the service. There are airlines in the world, albeit not many, that still issue paper tickets for their flights, mainly because updating their outdated ticketing system would not provide any savings over leaving it as it is.

JetBlue Says Goodbye To The E190 As Avelo Bets On Embraer's Future

JetBlue Airways closed the book on an era this week. Flight 190, operating on Tuesday, 9 September, from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), touched down and marked the official retirement of the Embraer E190 from JetBlue’s fleet. The first E190 joined the fleet in September 2005. Two months later, it launched scheduled service between BOS and JFK—the same route that marked its retirement this week. The milestone flight was a fitting bookend to two decades of service. It became the backbone of service to mid-sized cities like Rochester, Buffalo, and Burlington, while also flying shuttles in the congested Northeast corridor. At its peak, more than 60 E190s operated over 100 daily flights, introducing millions of travelers to JetBlue’s distinct onboard product. The E2 family—most visibly with Porter Airlines in Canada and Azul in Brazil—builds on the original E-Jet’s strengths, offering better fuel efficiency and longer range while keeping the comfort and feel of a larger airplane in a smaller frame. And, the massive deal announced one day after JetBlue’s final E190 flight, the E195-E2 will be making its debut in the United States very soon.A self-proclaimed avgeek who grew up under the flight path of his local airport, he began flight lessons at the age of 14. JetBlue Transition from E190 to A220 is now Complete |

JetBlue today celebrated the final revenue flight of the E190, marking the end of operations for its Embraer fleet. JetBlue today celebrated the final revenue flight of the E190, marking the end of operations for its Embraer fleet. The airline today celebrated the “decades of service and trust” with a commemorative event at its JFK and Boston hubs, along with the final flight, Jet Blue flight 190, between those cities. On an aircraft mile basis, the A220-300 had an aircraft mile cost of $15.32, versus 20.82 for the smaller E190. The cost differences can be traced to aircraft size, for seat-mile costs as well as the average stage length per flight, 1,059nm for the A223 and 510nm for the E190.The shorter range operations, with two take-off and climbs for every one for the A223, also favors the Airbus model. JetBlue’s emphasis on longer-range flights with larger aircraft fundamentally change the role of cross-over aircraft in the JetBlue network.Embraer has lost a major US customer, and will need to regain commercial momentum in the US market, which has been hurt by the scope clause that placed the E175-E2 on hold. We can see the logic in JetBlue’s strategic changes that include trans-con flights and the impact on their fleet planning decision.

Brazil's Embraer lands first U.S. order for E2 jets with Avelo Airlines buying 50 planes

While dwarfed by major U.S. plane maker Boeing and rival Airbus, Embraer is known for building regional jets that airlines rely on for thousands of flights a day for shorter routes or to smaller cities. U.S. upstart airline Avelo said it placed a firm order for 50 Embraer E195‑E2 jets, a win for the Brazilian manufacturer. The low-cost airline focuses on smaller cities, with a large operation out of Connecticut. How does an electronic flight ticket look? 🎫 ✈️ | LOT.com

An e-ticket is a digital record in the airline's computer database, eliminating the need for a traditional paper airline ticket. It is an individual record stored in the airline's booking system and contains all the details of the flight, the itinerary, the passenger travelling and the payment made. If you do not receive such an email or cannot find one after several months of purchase and your scheduled flight is approaching, please visit the Manage my reservation, where you will find all the necessary details for your trip. You will also be assisted by our Contact Center. For example, it could be a direct contact center office (as in the graphic), lot com — online bookings, an agency office. In the case of a cancellation, a delayed flight, it tells you whom to contact to make the necessary changes to the ticket, to modify your travel plans. This designation indicates the number of pieces of checked baggage allowed to be carried in the ticket price. The example graphic shows 0 PC — in this case, this means that checked baggage is not included in the ticket price. 6. FLIGHT NUMBER, DATE AND TIME OF DEPARTURE, DATE AND TIME OF ARRIVAL.Flight number — preceded by the airline designator (LO), which consists of a combination of two characters (digits or one letter and one digit). This is followed by a three- or four-digit number that the carrier has assigned to the specific flight. Meet Virgin's new pocket rocket: E-Jets a major shift in Australian aviation | The Standard | Warrnambool, VIC

This brand new E-Jet (as it's colloquially known) is joining the Virgin Australia fleet and its inaugural Australian flight is scheduled from Canberra to Perth at 11 o'clock Monday morning on its way to its new base in the west. It'll mainly be doing FIFO flights and regional WA routes, but with three more of these E-Jets due to arrive by early 2026 and a four on order, Virgin Australia could start using them around the country at some point, like the airline previously did with the first-generation E190 between Canberra and Sydney.Well, because these new E-Jets are just one part of a major shift we're seeing across aviation in Australia. A generation on from the introduction of those massive double-decker A380s, the motto now is that "smaller is better". Later this month, Qantas will take off with the first flight of its new A321XLR planes, with the aircraft initially going between Sydney and Melbourne and Sydney and Perth. When details of these new planes were released, one of the main things that caught people's attention was the lack of seatback entertainment screens. In fact, there was a lot of conversation about whether this was good or bad news. Personally, I love settling in to catch up on a blockbuster movie on an international flight, but I very rarely use the screen on a short domestic trip.Qantas says my approach is consistent with what it sees across the network, with most passengers on domestic flights using the free wifi to do their own thing. "Sometimes we have more devices connected than we have people on the plane," a spokesperson tells me when I ask about it. But while this whole brouhaha about the screens distracted the online commentariat, I think the really important thing to talk about is the last three letters of the A321XLR - which stand for 'Extra Long Range'.
